The Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) is the national tourism office of the Maldives responsible for carrying out promotional activities to become the most preferred island destination of the world under the theme of the Maldives...the Sunny Side of Life; whilst adhering to its mission to promote quality and sustainable growth in the local tourism industry to deliver long term economic, social and cultural benefits to the country.
Working under different offices of the government throughout the years, meteorological office became Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) in 2009. Today, MMS is responsible for the seismological and meteorological services in Maldives.
The Maldives established diplomatic relations with Belgium on 3 October 1977 and the Embassy to Belgium was established on the 27th of October 2010.
The Brussels Embassy leads the efforts of the Maldives Government to promote our national interests in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and the European Union, and to share an accurate representation of the country with our European partners. Additionally, the Embassy is responsible for providing consular assistance to the European citizens who choose to visit the Maldives
Honorary Consulate Republic of Maldives in Belgium
Since July 2021, the Republic of Maldives has a consulate in Balen in the province of Antwerp in Belgium.
The consulate will be concerned with friendly relations between Flanders and the Maldives in the fields of tourism, culture, economy and bilateral relations. The consulate works very closely with the embassy of the Maldives in Brussels.
